Good looking 1910 Canadian Locomotive Company 2-6-0 Mogul originally buitl for the Grand Trunk. The loco was purchased from Canadaian National to handle the tourist trains for the original Steamtown based in Bellows Falls, VT. Eventually the unit would be sold to the Strassburg RR in 1972. Specs - GTR class E8, 63" drivers, 21x26" cylinders, modest 170 psi boiler pressure, engine weight of 141,800 lb, tractive effort of 26,000 lb. Unknown photographer and the date is approximate. |

Description: |
This is a really nice postcard I found. The GMRC engine was built in 1910 by the Canadian Locomotive Company for the Grand Trunk Railway, this engine became Canadian National No. 911, in class E-10-a, in 1923. These locomotives had 21x26-inch cylinders, 63-inch drivers and a boiler pressure of 170 pounds. They exerted 26,000 pounds of tractive effort and weighed 141,800 pounds. |
