I ventured north instead of the usual westerly direction this morning, and was rewarded with some fine train action in Niagara Falls. First up, AMTRAK passenger train, then 45 minutes later, CN Train 421. I then headed over to Lundy's Lane crossing for another shot at 421. I tried for a 3rd encounter at Port Robinson yard, but the train remained deep in the yard after arriving. Chance of a closer encounter wasn't likely, so I didn't stick around. On the way home, I took the long way, and again was rewarded with a surprise finding at CN Southern yard, where three 'classic' diesels were parked. Here the AMTRAK Maple Leaf is on the approach to Niagara Falls Station, and the bridge to the USA. Final destination New York City. |
