| Here is an original photo by Douglas C. Jones that was taken from the 17th Street Bridge in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. Prominent here is an unidentified Pennsylvania Railroad Class M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" steam locomotive. The tender's depleted coal bunker leads me to believe that it's on its way to be serviced after completing a successful run to Altoona. The road numbers of the deadlined steam locomotives pictured in the foreground are not recorded. |
