Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken at Union Station in Washington, DC, on 15 May 1977. Prominent at the left is AMTK engine #4935, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) built in Juniata as Pennsylvania Railroad #4935 during March of 1943 and presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. At the pilot is Mr. Raymond Loewy ~ principal designer of the GG-1 ~ during the ceremony celebrating the "reincarnation of Pennsy 4935" on 15 May 1977. |
