MDiv. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by John Dziobko, Jr., that was taken near Lewistown, Pennsylvania, on 31 December 1956. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9744 and another "Shark" A-unit whose number is not recorded. #9744 was built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in February of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. They're passing over the Juniata River on their way from Altoona to the Enola Yards. Winter snow has dusted the mountain in the background. ("Stoneborobranch"; #36 of 56) |
