Two New Orleans Public Service (NOPSI) streetcars were waiting to begin their runs near the foot of Canal Street. TULANE car 441 (built by the Southern Car. Co. in 1915) was in front of the Coca-Cola Branch Factory, while WEST END car 837 (Perley Thomas 1922) was off to the right, in front of the Louisville & Nashville railroad station. Milwaukee Road box car 21269 was on North Front Street, on a New Orleans Public Belt siding which served Coca-Cola. The 441 was scrapped in shortly after this photo was taken, while the 837 lasted until May 1952. (approximate date of photo) |
