New Orleans Public Service trolleybus 1236 had been built by the St. Louis Car Co. in 1947, so it was only about a year old when this photo was taken on the FRERET route turning from Broadway onto Burthe Street. These buses had an unusual dark and light paint job, with a red band below the windows. The FRERET streetcars had been replaced by gasoline-powered buses on 1 December 1946, trolleybuses took over on 4 September 1947 and then diesel-powered buses replaced them on 10 June 1963.
