New Orleans Public Service, Inc. car 957 was stopped at the end of the MAGAZINE LINE, on Magazine Street at Moquer Lane. (Moquer Lane is on the uptown side of Audubon Park, where the median on Magazine Street ends.) Gasoline-powered buses replaced streetcars here on 11 February 1948, and these were replaced by electric buses on 7 July 1948. Car 957 went to Dallas after the original Canal Street line closed in 1964, but it was subsequently repatriated by the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority for use on the RIVERFRONT LINE and renumbered 457. |
