The area between the Erie and Lackawanna mains was once occupied by the large Erie freight house, a relic of the bygone days of LCL freight. It lasted a lot longer than it was useful, til Conrail tore it down in the run up to NS takeover in 1999. The building there now is loosely based on the Erie structure, now housing an office for the yard and local crews that work here. We see H 88 behind a typical GE and less typical GP 50 arriving with cars for the NYSW. |
