Built in May 1979 as AT&SF C30-7 8080 (c/n 42391), it was leased by ATSF to GE in December 1989 and loaned by GE to UP to make up for slow deliveries of new C40-8's. It was retired by the AT&SF in June 1994, traded to GE becoming GECX 8080, leased (or sold?) by GE to Conrail for Conrail's lease fleet, becoming CRL 549, rebuilt by either Metro-East Industries or VMV in June 1999 to C36M and leased by Helm/GE (a joint venture) to UP for about a year as UP 567, returned to Helm/GE in late-March 2000, leased out as HLCX 567. |
