SP 7326
Heavy eastbound lumber drag emerges from Tunnel 5 in a cloud of diesel exhaust, part of the reason why SP units often looked so dirty. SP 7326 was later GECX 7326, HLCX 6340. Date of photo approximate.

The remainder of the reason they were so grungy looking is the fact that the SP took no pride in the appearance of their power ! The paint was filthy, faded, burnt below the dynamic brake grids, generally looking like sh*t ! Public perception of a company plays big ! Look at Santa Fe's attractive power !
