| Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad E7 9926A on the second Train #10, the eastbound Denver Zephyr at Aurora, Illinois on December 19, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in September 1947 (c/n 4433) on EMD Order E792A, retired in Spetember 1969 and dismantled in December 1969, it is seen here heading the second section of Train #10. Behind the motors appears to be a Southern Pacific car, most likely a sleeper. The first section would have most of the normal Denver Zephyr consist, including the baggage cars and dormitory car. The second section would need a stand-in dorm car for the train crew (porters and dining car staff), and the SP car likely is filling in. |
