This brutish, powerful 4-8-2 Mountain type steam locomotive was built by Alco-Schenectady in June of 1927 (serial #67335, class U-1-a). In 1938, ownership moved to Canadian National who leased the loco to the CV. It's boiler pressure was also bumped up to 210 psi from the original 200 psi. The loco was sold for scrap in July of 1956 after only 29 years of service. Original specs - 73" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x28" cylinders, engine wt of 325,000 lb and tractive effort of 44,000 lb. No date, location or photogrpaher was listed for this photo unfortunately. |
