While visiting the CN Stratford Yard, H.L. Goldsmith caught these two Canadian National 4-8-2 Mountain type locomotives.

Description:
Built by the Canadian Locomotive Company in October of 1924, this 4-8-2 Mountain type steam locomotive loco was used for express passenger service between major cities like Toronto and Montreal as well as Chicago. The powerful and fast loco lasted until the scrapper's torch ended its career in August of 1959, barely a year after this photo was taken as it sat with steam up in the Stratford, Ontario, yard. Specs - serial #1767, class U-1-b, 73" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine weight of 354,300 lb, tractive effort of 49,589 lb. H.L. Goldsmith photo

Sad to think that barely a month after this photo way taken by H.L Goldsmith on his visit to the Statford yard that this fine loco was sent to the scrapper's torch.
