Sky of gray, sea of green |
Description: |
With apologies to the Beatles. Sky of blue was a some time thing in this region, but the green was everywhere, even on the diesels. MEBU and 68 cars in the green of summer corn. |

Used to be three here |
Description: |
MEBU rolls west at Waverly, where there is a lot of space between tracks 1 and 2. Up til the end of EL days, there was a siding between the two, one of two places on the Tier where this existed, the other being on the Buffalo Sub at Canaseraga. |

The reason why |
Description: |
There is a Conrail XCL empty coal train waiting behind me at CP Horn for this 120 platform DHT 6(NYK 6) to cross over from 1 to 2 so it can go west past the Hornell station, then west on the Erie main to Olean. NYK 6 has run the "fast track" from CP River, for which I'm sure the crew was grateful. Track 2, the slow track, was all 25 and 10 MPH from CP River, 30 miles away at MP 359. |

NY 7 with a local unit |
Description: |
NYSW 2012 leads this NY 7 into Binghamton. While NYSW was not above using small power on road trains, the long hood first orientation of 2012 makes me think the stack outlawed before it got to Binghamton, and 2012 was sent out to retrieve the train. You never knew what to expect from the Susie Q. The 2012 leads a trio of SD 45s as a set of CP power sits on the 2 runner on the ex DLW in the distance. |

253 with a mix |
Description: |
Train 253 is ready to go to the B&P for forwarding on to the B&O at Pittsburgh, then to the BN at Chicago as it winds its way to the west coast. A typical power mix is on the train, seen at SK yard. One time NYC icon Buffalo Central Terminal can be seen in the distance to the left of the lead unit. |
